FAQs
Will this trip be contributing to the local economy?

Yes! I’m working with all local providers for activities, tours, food, etc. The owner of the Villa is from and lives in Costa Rica, keeping it locally owned.

How much luggage can I bring?

A backpack and carry on should be enough! We will provide yoga mats, unless you would like to practice with your own. If you want more options a checked luggage is another option. Pack mostly comfy outfits and beach things, and maybe 1 or 2 outfits for going out to dinner.

I have dietary restrictions & food allergies – will there be accommodations?

Yes! Most dietary restrictions can be accommodated for (vegan, vegetarian & gluten free options available). Please keep in mind: We take precautions to prevent cross-contamination, but our kitchen isn’t a dedicated gluten-free space. If you have celiac disease or a severe gluten sensitivity, please keep this in mind. Feel free to reach out—I’m happy to chat about any questions or concerns!

San Jose Juan Santamaría International Airport (SJO)

How long is the drive from the airport to the retreat house?

The drive takes anywhere between 3-4.5 hours depending on traffic

What will we do aside from Yoga?

There will be time for rest and silence, group activities indoors like meditations, coloring, games; activities like going to the beach, hiking, excursions. During downtime, we may have movie nights, or pool nights. Plenty of time for solo activities, or to connect and make new friends!

I will offer options to help you explore, let go, and feel refreshed when it’s time to go back home.

What if I am a beginner at yoga?

This is offered for all levels, even if you’ve never done yoga before. But if you are experienced, we also have practices to keep you engaged. All are welcome!

Are we all required to attend all the retreat events?

Not at all. Much like your yoga practice is yours, this retreat is yours. I will be there to guide and host, but if you want to sit something out please do so! No questions asked.

Yes I do! A $500 deposit is required to hold your spot, but if you need a payment plan for the initial deposit or the full payment you can reach out to me to get it set up.

Your Host:

Hi! I’m Maria – Born in Costa Rica and raised in Maryland, I now call Colorado home. As a bilingual (Spanish & English) yoga teacher and digital marketer, I’ve navigated anxiety, panic attacks, and burnout. Yoga and meditation have been life-changing tools that helped me come back to my body. It’s helped me find relief, balance, and joy — lessons I’m passionate about sharing with others.

Since earning my 200-hour certification in 2020, I’ve taught yoga to friends, family, my online community, and in the last few years I’ve hosted weekly park yoga. My mission is to help people manage stress and reconnect with themselves through accessible yoga practices. Hosting retreats in Costa Rica feels like coming full circle, and I can’t wait to share this beautiful experience with you.

Step Away, Breathe Deep, and Come Back to Yourself

Yoga Retreats are an invitation to hit pause – to trade noise for stillness, stress for ease, and routines for meaningful experiences in nature. You’ll slow down, move mindfully, rest deeply, and reconnect with yourself in ways that are hard to access in the day-to-day. It’s a chance to return home not just refreshed, but more aligned, inspired, and fully present.

I am so excited to start hosting Yoga Retreats. Starting in November 2025, with plans at least 2 events every year so that we can all meet and share the magic of the yoga practice. I’m from Costa Rica so I always love taking my community there!
